Cure the Blue with the Buffalo Bills Alumni Foundation

The "Cure the Blue" Prostate Cancer Awareness website is organized and maintained by the Buffalo Bills Alumni Foundation.

The Buffalo Bills Alumni Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1999. It is comprised of past Bills players, who left an imprint on society during their football careers and wanted to continue molding society in a positive manner.

Mission Statement

The Buffalo Bills Alumni Foundation, Inc. is concerned with increasing awareness and knowledge of problems that we can help resolve, and we pursue this objective by bestowing grants to charities for meaningful intentions and activities. Our society is engulfed by poverty, deprived children and innumerable people battling with diseases and disorders among other things, and the foundation aspires to help alleviate the burden of these people.

Our intention is largely focused on creating a better environment for our youth, because as they mature, they will lead us into the future.

Our Objective

We will visit different organizations, clubs, groups, churches and local health care providers to educate men, women and family members on the importance of getting an annual prostate check-up, which would provide them with valuable information about their health and help the prevention of this dreaded disease.

Our goal is to raise awareness, educate and raise funds for research and cure of prostate cancer we will encourage local hospitals, the general public and local businesses to participate in the “cure-the-blue” campaign.

We want to bring attention to the National Football League, their owners, and the National Football League Players Association to incorporate this initiative into their annual football season opening week in September 2016.

We want “Cure the Blue” to be promoted within the National Football League with teams wearing “Blue”; recognize our organization, “Cure the Blue” in the same manner that they do during the month of October, where the NFL teams wear “Pink” to show recognition and support for Women Breast Cancer Awareness Program.

Just the Facts

Prostate Cancer is the second leading cause of death among men in the USA.

The American Cancer Society estimates 161,360 new cases of Prostate Cancer will be diagnosed in 2017.

It is estimated that 26,730 of those new cases will die.

One in 7 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime.

Men should have a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test and digital rectal examination by age 50, with follow up screenings. Minority males should have their PSA & rectal exam by age 40 with follow up screening by age 45.
